Leaf-Cutter Bee

Here’s some photos of a piece of Plum wood that I had taken down and sectioned earlier this year (June or July). During September we were splitting the wood and came across this. It looks as though a leaf cutting insect, probably a bee has burrowed into the wood, lined the hole with the pieces of leaves (the green tube) and presumably deposited its eggs or lava inside the tube—————- somewhat unfortunate that we split the wood exactly on the hole, exposing the tube. Interestingly, the leaves hadn’t turned brown as I would have expected.
